Martin Luther King, Jr. Parade and Day of Service

Join UC San Diego’s students, staff, and faculty, and alumni as we march in San Diego's Martin Luther King Jr. Parade and honor Dr. King by coming together for a Day of Service.

24th Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service

MLK day of service at Mission Bay High School

Friday, January 16, 2026

This annual tradition was established in 2002 as a way for our UC San Diego community to give back. This year, we will  be working with a partner school called Webster Elementary from 9 AM to 2 PM for a day of community building and connection to honor the life and legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Volunteers will lead interactive classroom activities designed to inspire leadership, compassion, and civic responsibility among Webster students. This year’s event will end in a reflection and panel featuring UC San Diego students, alumni, and community leaders, who will share their perspectives on continuing Dr. King’s fight against poverty and inequality.

Register by Thursday, January 15, 2026 to participate!
