Recruitment and selection for these year long positions takes place on an annual basis.

Communication & Leadership Assistant

Communication & Leadership Assistants (PDF) provide general administrative and programmatic support to ensure the success of the various programs and services offered by CSI - Communication & Leadership. Student Assistants will be selected and receive training in late Spring 2024, and will be employed for the 2024–2025 school year. Student Assistants:

  • Receive training on interpersonal communication, public speaking, and leadership
  • Assist staff members with assessment, marketing, and other administrative duties
  • Facilitate group icebreakers, activities, and discussions focused on areas of Communication & Leadership
  • Provide support with program preparation, set-up and delivery

Triton Community Leadership Institute (TCLI) Mentors

Mentors and Mentor Coordinators Staff (PDFs) provide guidance and support to incoming first-year students who are primarily first-generation college students, as they learn about social justice and leadership and navigate their first year at UC San Diego. Mentors and Mentor Coordinators will be selected and receive training in late Spring 2024 and Summer Session 1, and will be expected to serve in their roles during the summer institute and throughout the 2024–2025 school year.

Mentors and Mentor Coordinators:

  • Receive advanced training on facilitation, leadership, and social justice
  • Facilitate group activities and discussions in relation to diversity and social justice during the Summer Institute, (August 4 – August 8, 2024)
  • Facilitate ice breakers, team builders, and general activities to promote community and a sense of belonging on campus
  • Meet with participants individually and in small groups to provide support and resources throughout the year
  • Coordinate events and workshops to familiarize participants with information, resources, and opportunities
