A Message to Our Community | June 3, 2020
As a country, as a campus, and as individuals, we are grappling with the entrenched systemic racism that has spanned centuries, caused a deep, disproportionate harm to BIPOC communities, and taken far too many lives. We share the outrage, anger, frustration, exhaustion, and deep sadness at the lives that continue to be taken from our Black communities and we stand in solidarity with all who are working to make our communities safe and just. The emotional toll and fear faced by many in our communities does not go unnoticed. We care about you. We hear you. We stand with you.
We must all work together to fight for and support members of our Black community, disrupt systems that perpetuate racism, anti-blackness, and injustice, and create a more inclusive communities where we study, work and live. It will take every one of us, consistently doing our part.
Many have been looking for resources to educate themselves, identify spaces to be in community, and find ways to take action. There are many ways to deepen our understanding about oppression and injustice. Education about social justice is a form of self-empowerment. We have included a few initial resources to empower you, in your own way, to learn, take action, support community building, and care for yourself and others during this time.
