Tritons Take Charge

Program Overview

Tritons Take Charge is designed for student leaders who are actively organizing and leading service opportunities. The program offers guidance, support, and recognition for the meaningful ways you connect your peers with community service in the San Diego area. Plus, your efforts can be officially recognized with certification on your Co-Curricular Record—highlighting both the impact of your current work and the service projects you take on in the future.

How to Participate

  • Need to be a principal member of a current registered student organization through the Center for Student Involvement.  
    • Open to all student organizations categories 
  • Register using your UCSD email and credentials filling out the online form. 
    • Registration closes Week 5 of Winter Quarter 
  • Complete Waiver and Photo Release Form - included in the online form.
  • Complete reflection form after completing 30 hours. 
    • We highly encourage you to submit your events to the  UC San Diego Calendar. When submitting, be sure to select:
      • Event Type: Volunteer 
      • Audience: Undergraduate or Graduate 
      • Tags: Tritons Take Charge, Center for Student Involvement 
  • After submitting your reflection, log onto myccr.ucsd.edu to request validation for your experience.
  • Once approved, gain the status of Triton Take Charge Leader!

What is the Time Commitment?

Students are expected to complete a total of 30 hours during the year. Here’s the breakdown:

  • 1 hour: Program registration and end-of-year assessment.
  • 4 hours: Completing your student org registration and training.
    • NCRC Training 
    • Hazing Education Training 
    • Completion of Student Organization Registration
    • Maintaining current student organization registration status for the year  
  • 4 hours: Attending CSI-hosted service events.
  • 21 hours: Leading or participating in community service projects.
    • Community service projects are defined as: workshops, one-time service projects with community partners, and ongoing service projects with community partners 
      • Please note, general body meetings are not considered community service projects

All eligible, currently registered and enrolled students are encouraged to register and apply. The Tritons Take Charge program does not consider race, color, national origin, religion, sex, disability, and/or other protected categories as part of the registration, application, and selection process.
