Rian Fernandez, Triton Transfer Hub | Green Table Room

Want to feel more confident when you're doing presentations, speeches, or even just talking to people? Learn valuable skills such as voice control, stage presence, environmental understanding and audience adaptation to make you a stronger leader and communicator in and outside of public speaking settings! This workshop aims to give you more confidence in both the way that you present yourself to others as well as giving you practical skills to take home and implement as soon as you learn them.

Owning Your Voice

Amanda Corona, Rady School of Management | Bear Room

Finding your voice can be transformative—and using it with purpose can be life-changing. In this interactive session, you’ll explore how your identity, cultural strengths, and personal values shape the way you show up, lead, and communicate with confidence. Drawing on insights from UC San Diego Rady School of Management faculty, this workshop will introduce practical tools to help you speak authentically, reframe challenges, and own your story. Through discussion and reflection, you’ll connect your lived experiences to your leadership potential and walk away with strategies to lead, learn, and show up as your full self.

Behind the Glass: Who Gets Seen, Who Gets Heard, Who Gets Left Behind

Virgil Collado, Upper Division Housing | Red Shoe Room

Behind the Glass is an interactive workshop for student leaders that explores how identity influences visibility, voice, and opportunity within campus organizations and leadership opportunities. Participants examine the “glass ceiling,” “glass escalator,” and “glass cliff” as frameworks for understanding barriers and advantages in leadership roles. Through discussion, reflection, and collaborative exercises, students analyze who gets recognized, who faces extra pressure, and who may be left out entirely. The session creates space for honest dialogue about bias, privilege, and inclusion while encouraging participants to recognize both systemic patterns and personal experiences. By the end of the workshop, attendees will identify actions their organizations can take to build more equitable leadership structures, support underrepresented voices, and create pathways that ensure leadership opportunities are accessible to all students.

Your Values & Building a Career Compass

Brian Crie, Teaching & Learning Commons | Marshall College Room

There is more to your academic and professional goals than just "follow your passion". You may have personal, cultural, and family values that impact your future career directions, but it can be challenging knowing how to talk about those values in context with your goals. Discovering Your Career Compass is meant to help students to explore their values while understanding how campus resources can support you in that journey using the concept of Ikigai to inform the reflection process.
