Flipping the Script: Exploring Oneself within Servant Leadership

Daniela Hernandez & Rosa Tejeda, Triton Firsts - Student Success Programs | Bear Room

Students will engage in a workshop that explores the different attributes of servant leadership and its connection to their own identities. Through this exploration they will come to understand how their lived experiences as social capital have prepared them to be leaders in different spaces and roles. As we explore servant leadership, our presentation will provide new insights on how servant leadership looks in modern times, with respect to serving the self. For instance, one of the attributes of servant leadership is commitment to the growth of people; however, during this session we evolve this attribute to committing to the growth of oneself. Through a reflective activity we will have students list their identities and how their identities coherently show up within the servant leadership principles. Understanding their own qualities of servant leadership will position them to understand how these attributes will show up within their respective fields.

Creating an Alumni Network: Alumni Engagement & SFL

Anneke Garretson and Oscar Licon, Alumni Relations | Red Shoe Room

This session will introduce student leaders to the foundations of alumni engagement and its impact on the long-term strength of fraternity and sorority organizations. Participants will explore what an alumni network is, why it matters, and how alumni will serve as valuable resources for mentorship, networking, institutional knowledge, and organizational support. The session will provide practical strategies for collecting meaningful alumni data, establishing student and alumni leadership roles, and incorporating alumni into existing programs and events. Attendees will also learn best practices for professional communication, guidance for reaching out to alumni with confidence, and creative ways to engage local and remote alumni through in-person and virtual opportunities.

Your Role in Culture Change: From Supporting to Directing

Andi Thomas-Sanchez, CARE at SARC | Eleanor Roosevelt College Room

Sorority & Fraternity Life chapters are expected to have at least one attendee at this session

Whether you hold a formal leadership title or not, you have an essential role in shaping campus culture. In this interactive workshop, we’ll explore opportunities for culture change, such as engaging peers in violence prevention efforts and promoting inclusion in student organizations. This session will equip you with culture change frameworks from public health and education that can be applied to real-world scenarios you may encounter as a student leader. This is a hands-on learning experience where you’ll be invited to work together on a case study activity in collaboration with your fellow participants. You’ll also have the opportunity to craft a personalized culture change action plan to take back to your organization, team, or community.
