Food on Campus
A Temporary Food Permit is needed for public events where food is given or sold. On-campus groups (based at UC San Diego) and student organizations can apply for a temporary food facility permit through the food service module on TAP. Regarding food preparation and storage, please ensure safety guidelines are followed.
Barbecues/ grills on Library Walk
If you need to rent a grill, you can reserve them through Price Center Reservations. The cost is $40 per day and is due prior to the event. If you need a grill for another part of campus, you can rent one from a pre-approved vendor listed in the approved other vendor list.
Classroom meetings
Food is not allowed in classrooms (Center Hall, Peterson, H&SS, etc.) without special approval from the Registrar’s Office.
Alcohol on campus
In order for alcoholic beverages to be served at a student organization event, specific requirements must be met and university guidelines and policies must be followed.

Groups planning to serve alcohol or malt beverages at an event must use a university-approved third party licensed beverage server.
If your group is planning to serve alcohol or malt beverages at a group function, you must use a university-approved third party licensed beverage server.
